Restaurant-inspired recipes for the home kitchen
Yes Chef! is a collection of fine-dining and restaurant-inspired recipes, written for home cooks who want to try something ambitious. It started as an iOS app, Yes Chef! by Chris, and this website publishes the same recipes so anyone can read them for free.
My name is Chris DeStefano. I am a husband, father, engineer/project manager by day, and mobile app builder by night. I have no formal training in the kitchen. I learned by watching my mom, TV shows, tons of social media and lots of experimenting.
Each recipe starts from a dish that inspired me: a restaurant plate, a chef's signature technique, or a classic method taken further. Where a recipe is adapted from a restaurant or chef, the source is credited at the top of the page. The recipes here are my own home-kitchen interpretations, not the restaurants' official recipes, and they are not affiliated with or endorsed by those restaurants or chefs.
I write quantities and steps for a home kitchen, break complex dishes into sub-recipes (sauces, garnishes, bases) you can prepare ahead, and, in many recipes, add notes on the technique that matters most, such as why a step is done at a certain temperature or how to avoid a common mistake. Recipes are revised when I find something that can be clearer or more reliable.
Some recipes call for equipment or ingredients that are hard to find, and I link to where to buy them. Some of those links are affiliate links, which means Yes Chef! may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. The site is also supported by advertising. See the Privacy Policy for details.
If you spot an error in a recipe, an unclear step, or a quantity that looks wrong, please tell me and I will fix it.
